On Patience
Another spontaneous poem
Credit: Dr.Morton and the game we’ve been playing
Lyrics by me; music by Suno:
Patience is a virtue
Possess it if you can
Anxiety is a teacher
Learn from it if you can
(Then say buh-bye)
~~~
The body has at least
Three minds of its own:
The brainy mind
The lovey mind
And the hungry mind
~~~
These minds within
Are big shots
In our pantheon
But they are
Teachers, as well
~~~
Situations unfold
All around us
And the gods within
Beckon to us:
Please join the show
~~~
But the show
Just like the gods
Has a mind of its own
It’s not right, we say
It’s too slow, we say
~~~
And thus anxiety.
~~~
How to disinvite
This pesky pest
Is easy as pie
Just sit back, relax
And enjoy the show
~~~
You would never
Think of standing up
To tell the actors
How to act
So don’t do that now
~~~
You would never
Dare to rise
To tell the actors
To make it snappy
So don’t do that now
~~~
The old joke said
How do you get
To Carnegie Hall?
The punch line was:
Practice!
~~~
Practice starting now.
~~~
Sit down in
Your home theater
Turn on your
Favorite show
Relax and watch
~~~
Just watch
And breathe
Choose when to laugh
Choose when to cry
Exercise your choice
~~~
With choice comes power
With power comes patience
With patience comes peace
Thus patience is a virtue
Possess it as you can
It’s like playing Chess with the Gods - you’ll only win if you let them.
Great line»>”But the show, Just like the gods, Has a mind of its own”
Operative word: Choice! Thank you.
